Many men are anxious about the size of their penis. So much so plenty of them buy devices which promise to give them a few extra inches down below.
One such device is the Phallosan Forte. According to its designers, it not only adds length to the penis, but also girth.
The device does this by employing a method called penile traction therapy, or PTT. The manufacturer says this encourages new cell growth and promotes extension.
Medical News Today has hailed the Phallosan Forte for being a drug and allergy-free way that may promote comfort with penis size, reports the Daily Star. Its review of the product also welcomes a money-back guarantee and the fact that it can be worn under clothing.
However, the medical information website underlines that the device has not been backed by scientific data and may actually worsen symptoms for those who suffer from Peyronie's disease. This is a condition that causes the penis to curve.
They also note that the device has to be worn for up to eight hours a day, and may cause irritation, blisters and inflammation. Size Genetics, Quick Extender Pro, JES Extender and Male Edge Pro are other such products which use the PTT technique, similar to that employed by Phallosan Forte, with slight variations in their designs.
While stating that the PTT technique is generally tried and tested, and deemed to be a safe way of increasing penis size, Medical News Today also warns that it comes with some noticeable side effects, including discomfort, numbness in the head of the penis, the glans discolouration of the skin, mild pain and swelling. The website states: "Makers of these devices typically advise people to start slowly, in terms of how much traction to use and how long to wear the device.
"After a person becomes accustomed to the device, they might wear it for longer and use more traction. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions."
It adds: "Anyone who feels uncomfortable or distressed about their penis size should consult a healthcare professional, particularly if these feelings interfere with their daily life or make it difficult to enjoy sexual intimacy, for example. If a mechanical extender may have caused any damage, contact a healthcare professional as soon as possible."
