How to get 10 days off work using just four days of annual leave during King's Coronation

Next month, many people across the UK will sit down to watch the King's coronation which is set to take place on May 6, falling on a Saturday at London's Westminster Abbey.

And to make the celebrations last longer, a bank holiday for people across the UK was confirmed with it set to take place just a few days later on Monday, May 8.

Whilst some people such as nurses, journalists and retail staff may not get the day off, others will - and if you do, you'll want to benefit from it by getting 10 days off - and you only need to request four days off.

But with the big day less than a month away, you may want to get your holiday requests in sooner rather than later. So if you're keen to put your feet up for nearly two weeks, and who wouldn't, here's what you need to do.

To get the 10 day break in May using just four days of annual leave, you should request May 2 (Tuesday) to May 5 (Friday) off.

Alternatively, if the dates suit better, you could book off the remainder of the week after the coronation and have nine days instead. If possible, you could even book all the time off and have 16 days away from your desk to spend however you please.

The handy holiday hack comes as First Bus Glasgow confirmed it will to run a limited operation on the day of the King's Coronation.

On a notice on a First Bus services within the city centre, the multi-national transport group said: "Please note on the following dates we will be operating a Sunday service on all services."

In addition to this, pubs across Glasgow set to extend their licencing hours to celebrate.
