Facebook appears to have removed its option to edit posts in a major update.
Frustrated Facebook users took to Twitter to express their disgruntlement as the change means posts cannot be altered once published. Usually, to edit a post you've shared on Facebook you would:
- Go to your post.
- Click the three dots in the top right of the post.
- Click the pencil icon
- Edit Post.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save.

If photos are included in your post, you can delete and add photos without deleting the entire post. You can't delete photos from your post if you shared your post from a third-party app (e.g. Spotify, a news site) or a photo album.
But over the weekend, Facebook users noticed that while using the app, the option to edit a post had disappeared. Jeff Siperly tweeted: "Umm, Facebook, why’s there no “edit post” option anymore? Please tell me this is a glitch."
Carlos said: "Dear @facebook why can’t I edit my posts on Facebook app anymore? There is no “edit post” option in the three dots." Meg added: "Ok am I stupid, or is Facebook not allowing you to edit your own posts???? No matter my privacy setting, there is no longer an option to edit. Only to save or edit privacy."
And Jameel said: "The only thing Facebook had over Twitter was an edit button, and they ain’t even got that no more."
However, Facebook users will be pleased to know there is a way to fix this issue. According to FollowChain.org the edit option will reappear if you download an older version of Facebook or uninstall and reinstall the app.
Some account holders also reported that by using the desktop version of Facebook - either on their PC or mobile - they were able to edit their posts.
