How to enter the Great Manchester Run 2022

This year's Great Manchester Run is just around the corner, but there's still plenty of time to apply if you haven't already.

Taking to the city streets this weekend, there are two main events; the 10k, open to those aged 15 and over, and the half marathon, open to those aged 17 and over. Younger aspiring athletes will be able to take part in the mini and junior races on Saturday, 21 May.

The routes, which takes runners by some of Manchester's most famous landmarks, will be punctuated with live music and the cheers of thousands of supporters. The event, which take place on Sunday 22 May, will also be televised live on the BBC - so it really isn't to be missed.

If you're interested in entering the Great Manchester Run, read below to find out how. The category you want to run in will depend on what section of the race you apply for.

How to enter the Great Manchester Run

To apply any of the events, find the event page on letsdothis.com and select the run you'd like to enter. Prices start at £42 to take part in the 10K run, £49 for the half marathon, £19 for the junior and £18 for the mini.

Once you've clicked through, a page will load for you to enter your personal and payment details. You'll also have to answer questions including your estimated running time and size of finisher t-shirt.

However, if you class an an 'Elite' athlete, you have to apply via a different route. To see if you qualify as an 'Elite' athlete, check the Great Run's requirements here.

If you're applying as an Elite athlete you must email a requests to matt.turnbull@thegreatruncompany.com - full details of the information you need is on the Elite athlete site.

Runners who secure their entry after 10:00am on Friday 13 May will have to collect their race number from the information point, located at Great Northern Square, off Peter Street. The information point, a marquee branded 'Great Run,' is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and from 7.30am on Sunday.

Organisers recommend picking up their numbers on Saturday to avoid the rush on Sunday. Runners whose numbers haven't arrived in the post can also collect replacement numbers from the information point.
