How to check if Edinburgh Fringe shows are cancelled amid power cut

A POWER cut affecting large parts of the nation’s capital has impacted shows performing at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The outage was first reported just after 4pm on Friday and affected the EH1, EH3, EH6, EH8, EH9, EH10, EH13 and EH16 postcodes, with Bristo Square - one of the main hubs of the festival - temporarily without power.

SP Energy Networks said power was restored shortly before 7pm.

Whilst some performers have continued their shows with the help of audiences using phone torches, some shows have been cancelled altogether.

Here’s how to check if a show has been cancelled.

Box Office

The first step is to ring the relevant box office for the show you are planning to see.

You should be able to find from there whether or not your show will go ahead as planned.

Here is a list of phone numbers for the main box offices at the Fringe:

  • Underbelly: 0131 510 0395
  • Assembly: 0131 623 3030
  • Pleasance: 0131 556 6550
  • Gilded Balloon: 0131 622 6552
  • theSpace: 0131 510 2384

You can also visit the box offices in person around Bristo Square, as there are still staff there able to help.

Social Media

Many performers are sharing updates online amid the power cut.

It’s a good idea to check their social media accounts for the latest information.
