It's almost time to ring in 2023 and there's no shortage of New Year's Eve celebrations in Nottingham for fun, fizz and singing Auld Lang Syne. For those who aren't going to a house party or having a quiet evening watching Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny on the telly, clubs, pubs and restaurants are staging events.
Some of the hottest party spots, including Rock City, have almost sold out so if you're thinking of painting the town red, you need to get organised or risk disappointment. But it's not all about boozing - there's a number of events with a chilled vibe that won't leave you with a hangover on New Year's Day.
There's no longer any civic celebration with fireworks in the city centre but there's plenty going off around the city. Here's just a few of the events taking place on December 31:

Royal Concert Hall
The New Year's Eve gala has been an annual tradition for 25 years. The concert featuring Sinfonia Viva promises to be a night of exceptional classical and popular favourites that include Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Fantasia on Greensleeves by Vaughan Williams and celebratory waltzes from Strauss.

Violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason, the older brother of royal wedding cellist Sheku, will perform lyrical renditions of Massenet’s Meditation from Thais, and John Williams' Schindler's List, before igniting some musical fireworks with the lightening quick virtuosity of Sarasate’s Zigurnerweisen.
