How to add a Remembrance Poppy to your Facebook, Twitter or Instagram picture

Across Nottinghamshire, people are already wearing poppies to show their support for Remembrance. Traditionally, the poppy is worn from the last Friday in October until the end of the day on November 11 - Remembrance Day.

However, you can also show your support for Armistice Day on social media- in particular, on Facebook. The social media platform has various filters or overlays that you can use. So how do you add a poppy to Facebook? Well, it is a lot easier than you might expect.

In fact, it involves just five easy steps. But to begin with, you'll need to log on to your Facebook account.

Once you've logged on click on your profile. Then, if you're on mobile, click edit underneath your profile picture.

Step three is to click on the profile picture frame feature and then search for 'Poppy Day' or 'Remembrance Day' and select the frame you want. You can set the image to revert back to your original profile picture after a certain amount of time.

Next, drag to reposition the frame to exactly where you want it. The fifth and final step is to click 'Use as profile picture' to save.

On Twitter it's not quite as simple as there's no built-in tool. You could try doing it yourself, or use a website like Twibbon, which does it for you.

Instagram also has no built-in feature, but helpfully it does have the option to import your profile picture from Facebook meaning you can simply do that once you've added a poppy.

Armistice Day marks the day and time that guns fell silent in the First World War, at 11am on the 11th day, of the 11th month.
