How the players that left Man City in the transfer window are faring

It was an unusually busy summer at Manchester City.

When the transfer window finally came to a close Pep Guardiola had added six players to his squad with the signings of Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega, Sergio Gomez and Manuel Akanji. There were some significant departures as well, with players who've been key to City 's recent success moving on to pastures new.

But it wasn't just those four first-teamers who left as a whole host of players - many you may never have actually heard of - departed either permanently or on loan. Here's how a wide selection of the players that left the Etihad this summer are getting on at their new clubs.

Fernandinho

Captain Fernandinho brought his love affair with City to an end on his own terms as he chose to allow his contract to expire in order to return to Brazil. He returned to his first club Athletico Paranaense and has played 10 times for them so far, picking up one assist.

Gabriel Jesus

Another Brazilian to depart was forward Jesus, who left for a staring striker role at Arsenal after never being able to make the position his own at City. He has started the season brilliantly, with three goals and three assists in just six games for the Gunners.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling also had grown frustrated with his lack of playing time at the Etihad so looked for a fresh start at Chelsea in a £50million switch. The forward has played well personally, scoring three times, but his new team have struggled and have already sacked manager Thomas Tuchel and replaced him with Graham Potter.

Aleks Zinchenko

Following in Jesus' footsteps to reunite with Mikel Arteta, Zinchenko was yet another player to depart in search for regular minutes. Though he has remained at left-back rather than his favoured midfield, the Ukrainian has made a strong first impression and improved Arsenal's defence.

Gavin Bazunu

City raised a hefty £12.6m by selling Bazunu, who never played for them, to Southampton but there's a good reason for that. The teenage goalkeeper is highly rated and has gone straight in as the Saints' No.1 despite his tender years, starting every match.

Romeo Lavia

Four players swapped Manchester for Southampton this summer and Lavia is another to have made an instant impact. He's just 18 but was immediately placed in the starting XI for the first five matches, scoring a stunner against Chelsea, before a hamstring injury ruled him out of action.

CJ Egan-Riley

Vincent Kompany is the new Burnley manager and he used his City links to enhance his new squad. EDS captain Egan-Riley was signed on a free transfer but he has made just one single-minute appearance in the Championship so far.

Aro Muric

Muric also travelled to Turf Moor for £2.7m to replace Nick Pope. Those are big gloves to fill but he has made a good start having started every game, though he has been culpable for a couple of goals.

Luke Mbete

With the arrival of Akanji on deadline day, promising centre-back Mbete was allowed to leave on loan for valuable first-team experience, though he has yet to get the chance just yet.

Liam Delap

Highly-rated striker Delap has seen his budding career disrupted by injury over the last year but he has now joined Stoke City in the hope of getting things back on track. He has started four games but is yet to get on the scoresheet.

Tommy Doyle

After underwhelming stints at Hamburg and Cardiff, midfielder Doyle has once again gone out on loan, this time to Sheffield United. After initially starting on the bench he has since fought his way into the starting XI and has grabbed a single assist.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis

A third player to join Burnley this summer was Harwood-Bellis, who has gone straight into the heart of Kompany's defence. The 20-year-old is earning rave reviews in Lancashire and has played every minute so far.

James McAtee

After outgrowing the EDS following a brilliant season, McAtee followed Doyle to Sheffield United for the season. The exciting playmaker has made four appearances at Bramall Lane.

Kayky

Brazilian winger Kayky has joined Portuguese side Pacos Ferreria for the season and has played three times without making a goal contribution up to now.

Jayden Braaf

Braaf had all the talent to graduate into the first team but frustrations over that not happening soon enough saw him go to Udinese on loan last season and now he has joined Borussia Dortmund on a free. He has been playing for Dortmund's second team but hasn't been able to help as they have lost every game he has played.

Zack Steffen

Reserve goalkeeper Steffen joined Middlesbrough on loan in order to get game time ahead of the World Cup but that hasn't gone to plan. Boro didn't win in any of the five games in which he started and their form has upturned since he was taken out of the side. It may be difficult for him to get back in ahead of Liam Roberts.
