How the experts predict Bristol Rovers will finish League One season

Bristol Rovers currently sit in ninth, one point and three places off the play off spots in League One.

Graham Coughlan's side have had a steady start to the season, grinding out results and having a strong home form at the Mem.

The Gas are in with a chance of finishing in the top six and Jonson Clarke-Harris continues his form, he could continue to keep Rovers in the top half.

However, despite their good start, the experts have predicted the Rovers will struggle to climb much higher and will be unlikely to finish in a play off place.

Most of the predictors suggest the Gas are in for a solid mid-table finish - here is where Rovers are predicted to finish.

FiveThirtyEight

The experts at FiveThirtyEight have been working their magic have predicted the entire League One table - but it's not good news for Rovers.

The Gas are predicted to finish 13th, 11 points off the play off places.

FiveThirtyEight has given the Gas a 12 per cent chance of reaching the play offs and five per cent chance of getting promoted.

It would be two positions better than last season, but Rovers fans will be hopeful that Graham Coughlan can lead the team to a higher position than in the bottom half.

In this prediction, it's good news for Ipswich Town and Oxford United as they finish in the automatic promotion places, but Southend, Bolton and Rochdale are placed in the bottom three

Football Web Pages

The experts at Football Web Pages are slightly kinder to the Gas.

The continuation of the solid home form means that, in this prediction, Rovers would finish 10th, just five points off the play off places. Fans would no doubt be more pleased with this result, with Rovers only losing two games at the Mem all season.

15 loses away from home hindered the Gas, who finish the season on 67 points.

Football Web Pages also predicted Ipswich to finish as champions, but guessed that Wycombe would finish second with Oxford left to fight it out in the play offs.

Southend, Bolton and MK Dons are all thought to be going down.
