It was an unusual transfer window for Manchester City. A transformative one.
Under Pep Guardiola, City have tended to make gradual change to their squad but the past summer called for a rejuvenation of the side. Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips, Manuel Akanji, Sergio Gomez and Stefan Ortega were all signed.
Such a high number of arrivals meant that they had to be offset by significant departures. City were easily in profit across the window as they waved goodbye to four stars who have played a key role in their recent success and a host of talented youngsters.

Here's how the 13 notable departures have got on since leaving the Etihad:
Raheem Sterling
It's not been a great return to London for Raheem Sterling so far. Chelsea paid £47million for the winger and though he has got his wish to be playing regularly once again he hasn't found his best form yet. Chelsea have struggled too, with manager Thomas Tuchel being sacked and replaced by Graham Potter and instability hasn't helped.
Sterling has just five goals and two assists for his new club and has lost his spot in the England attack to Phil Foden as well.
Gabriel Jesus
Though he hasn't been massively amongst the goals, Gabriel Jesus has been the lynchpin of Arsenal's dynamic and exciting attack that currently sits above City at the top of the table. The Brazilian has only scored five times but the seven assists he has shows how integral he has been to Mikel Arteta's forward line.
Sadly, he suffered a knee injury at the World Cup that required surgery and is now set for at least three months on the sidelines.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
The versatile Oleksandr Zinchenko also left the Blues in the quest for regular minutes and followed Jesus to the Emirates. The Ukrainian has spent a big chunk of time in the treatment room due to various injuries but has been first choice when available and impressed with his composed displays at left-back.
Fernandinho
Blues hero Fernandinho called time on his stint in England in the summer after nine successful years to return to his native Brazil. He signed with Athletico Paranaense and has been a regular in the heart of their midfield, already making 29 appearances and grabbing two goals. The veteran doesn't seem to be getting away with his subtle fouling quite as much, though, as he has already been booked nine times.
Gavin Bazunu
The first of four EDS talents to be so sold to Southampton was goalkeeper prodigy Gavin Bazunu in a £12million move. The Irishman has gone straight in as the Saints' No.1 and has looked good stepping up to Premier League level despite his team's struggles.
Romeo Lavia
Combative and elegant midfielder Romeo Lavia also moved straight into the starting XI on the South coast and impressed massively, scoring a wonderful goal in the shock win over Chelsea. However, a hamstring injury kept him out of action for nearly two months and he struggled to refind that form in a team in free fall upon his return.
Samuel Edozie
Samuel Edozie also moved to Southampton but hasn't had quite the same impact. He has only been used off the bench in the Premier League so far and is yet to register a goal contribution.
Juan Larios
The final member of the quartet to be signed by Southampton was Juan Larios. The Spanish left-back has managed to start one game in the Premier League but has otherwise had a similar story to Edozie.
Jayden Braaf
There were high hopes for the talented Jayden Braaf at City but sadly things didn't go to plan. It was clear he wasn't going to sign a new contract in 2020 so he spent last season on loan at Udinese, playing just four times, and has now joined Borussia Dortmund on a free. He is yet to make his debut and is playing for the second side.
CJ Egan-Riley
CJ Egan-Riley captained the EDS to a Premier League 2 title triumph last season but took the chance to join Vincent Kompany's Burley when his contract expired. The versatile defender has been a periphery figure so far, with three substitute appearances in the Championship and two starts in the Carabao Cup.
Pedro Porro
Right-back Pedro Porro never played for City in his three years at the club, all of which was spent out on loan, and he joined Sporting permanently in a £7million move in the summer. He is a regular starter in Portgual with seven assists in 17 games this campaign.
Ko Itakura
Japanese defender Ko Itakura also never played a minute for Pep Guardiola during his stay and left the club permanently this summer for a nominal fee. He is a backup option at Borussia Monchengladbach but started every group game in Japan's World Cup campaign, picking up an assist in the victory over Germany. Sadly he was suspended for their quarter-final exit to Croatia.
Arijanet Muric
Another player to link up with Kompany at Turf Moor is reserve goalkeeper Arijanet Muric. There was a time in which Muric looked as though he may have a future at City when he played second fiddle to Ederson for a season due to Claudio Bravo being injured. However, he followed it up with a disastrous loan spell at Nottingham Forest. He went out on loan twice more before moving to Burnley for a couple of million in the summer. He is the Clarets' No.1 and has kept six clean sheets in 20 games.
