How Romelu Lukaku and Todd Boehly reacted to Conor Coady's equaliser during Chelsea vs Wolves

Welcome to Chelsea Todd Boehly!

After what has been a busy Saturday already which was supposed to end in a positive outcome, with Thomas Tuchel's side taking three points under the watchful eye of the expected new owner, Boehly instead saw his new venture draw 2-2 with Wolves after letting a two-goal lead slip.

The statement from the Blues ahead of the match read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.

"Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.

"In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation. "The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time."

It looked like being a fairytale start for Boehly and co as club-record signing Romelu Lukaku re-found his groove with a quickfire double early on in the second period. However, Chelsea dropping off and not going in for the kill, coupled with smart substitutions from stand-in Wolves manager Tony Roberts, who deputised for Bruno Lage who missed the trip with Covid 19, titled the pendulum back to the visitors who were a nuisance all afternoon.

Trincao's stunning effort coupled with Conor Coady's late header in stoppage meant that Wolves walked away from SW6 party poopers as the Blues' top four quest remains in the balance, with Arsenal and Spurs now looking to pounce on this latest setback that will have concerned the new owner.

It wasn't just Boehly who couldn't believe what happened, however, as he was pictured with his hand over his head as he had seen enough by that point, but the club record signing who wanted the day to be about his superb performance, also reacted in an animated sense to the lacklustre defending at the back that was punished in the seventh minute of additional time.

The 28-year-old followed on from Boehly's reaction by throwing up his hands in disbelief before sitting back down on the substitutes bench and then also putting his hands over his mouth. A reaction that would have been ever-present too in the crowd at the time of the equaliser rustling Edouard Mendys net.
