How Rangers can claim 'significant' financial bonus from Joe Aribo as transfer package revealed

Rangers could be set to make a future profit on Joe Aribo with a chunky sell-on clause inserted into his deal that takes him to Southampton.

The attacking midfielder is just off the back of a marathon season across club and country duty, helping Rangers to the Europa League final and featuring for Nigerian in January's Africa Cup of Nations. His contract expires next summer and it's been heavily reported that the Premier League club based at St Mary's is proceeding with trying to sign him up.

Due to his contract situation, Rangers won't make as much as they could have had he been under contract for a longer time. Aribo only arrived for £300k from Charlton though three years ago and a £10 million release clause in his contract will still see them make an overwhelming profit. It's reported by The Athletic that a future financial benefit could arise.

A 'significant sell-on percentage' is on the agenda for Rangers and while no agreement has been met yet, the overall package will total £10 million alongside 'the cut they stand to make from any future move.'

Losing Aribo though is a blow for boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst and it'll be a further worry that fellow attackers Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are in the same boat in terms of contract length.
