How players linked with Liverpool during the summer transfer window have performed

Liverpool struck deals to sign four players during the summer transfer window, three of which arrived at Anfield on a permanent basis.

Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho were recruited by the Reds for initial fees worth a combined approximate £74million. Arthur Melo was acquired on deadline day from Juventus on a season-long loan deal.

A number of other players were also linked with moves to Liverpool, though failed to materialise as individuals either headed elsewhere or stayed put at their current employers. Below, we have taken a look at how those stars have fared since the transfer window slammed shut in September.

Aurelien Tchouameni - Real Madrid

The Frenchman emerged as midfield target for Jurgen Klopp's side shortly after the final Premier League match of the season at home to Wolves. At the same time, it became clear Real Madrid were leading the race to secure the services of the midfielder - which proved to be the case as the 22-year-old shortly after swapped Monaco for the Spanish capital.

Tchouameni has quickly established himself as a key player within Carlo Ancelotti's side, justifying why Los Blancos were willing to agree a package deal worth £85.3million to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Youri Tielemans - Leicester City

Almost every transfer window, Youri Tielemans is the subject of speculation but continues to stay put at the King Power Stadium. It was no different this summer as Arsenal, Liverpool and other Premier League teams were reported to be keen on the Belgian.

Out of contract at the end of the season, recent performances of the Anderlecht academy graduate have hammered home the fact that clubs would be rather foolish to pass up on the chance to target the 25-year-old either in January or for free next summer.

Demonstrating his valuable quality of scoring from distance, Tielemans produced stunning strikes against both Wolves and Everton in recent weeks and would be an asset to most top sides.

Moises Caicedo - Brighton

Heavily linked with the Reds towards the end of the transfer window, Moises Caicedo did not end up becoming a Liverpool player.

Klopp's side were reported to be interested in making a £42million bid for the Ecuadorian midfielder, a figure which then Brighton boss Graham Potter joked in August would be enough to 'get his boots'. The 21-year-old has overcome any potential distractions over his future by knuckling down for the Seagulls this term and has featured in all 14 of their Premier League fixtures.

Caicedo has made the sixth most tackles in the English top-flight this campaign, highlighting his effective ability at breaking up play.

Jude Bellingham - Borussia Dortmund

The name that just won't go away for Liverpool. Jude Bellingham is a man in demand, and it's clear to see why. So far this season, the teenage midfielder has scored nine times and registered three assists in 22 outings for his club.

Although Bellingham's class may not be enough to help Dortmund compete with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, the Birmingham-born star is shining on the European stage. The England international broke Wayne Rooney’s record for the most Champions League goals scored in a single season by an English teenager after netting four times in five group stage games. At 18 years and 78 days, he also become the youngest Englishman to score away from home in Europe's elite competition - a feat previously held by none other than Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool are expected to renewed their interest in Bellingham, either in January or next summer.

Ousmame Dembele - Barcelona

Dembele looked certain to leave Barcelona for months after failed contract talks and internal unrest and became a free agent on June 30 after his deal expired. In somewhat of an unexpected U-turn, however, the French forward was offered a new, two-year deal in the middle of July.

Since extending his stay in Spain, the 25-year-old has helped his side to the top of La Liga heading into the six-week World Cup break by contributing four goals and five assists in 14 outings.

Christopher Nkunku - RB Leipzig

Leading the way in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts, Christopher Nkunku will hope to replicate his impressive form during the second half of the season.

In all competitions, the French international has found the back of the net 17 times and helped RB Leipzig qualify for the knockout phases of the Champions League. Liverpool's hopes of recruiting the attacker may well have faded, though, after a report by The Athletic last month stated the player has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Chelsea for the 2023/24 campaign.

Arnaut Danjuma - Villarreal

The Dutch winger missed Villarreal's first five league matches of 2022/23, though marked his return to action in his fourth game back with a brace in a 2-0 win over Osasuna. Danjuma was also twice on target for his club in their Conference League group stage fixtures, helping the Spanish club progress in first place.
