Philippe Clement's reign as Rangers manager has finally been brought to an end.
Comprehensive defeat at Ibrox by St Mirren was a loss too far for the Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart who had only just backed his man earlier this week.
A 1-0 home defeat in the Scottish Cup to Queen's Park had left the Belgian manager's position untenable in the eyes of the fans already.
And now the power brokers have come to the same conclusion.
His spell wasn't without its highs. Rangers were solid in Europe and beat Betis in Spain, Malmo in Sweden and even Nice in France.
At home he won the Scottish League Cup with a win over Aberdeen.
But domestic success otherwise eluded him, including two cup final defeats to Celtic and a lamentable record in the Scottish Premiership this season where they sit 13 points behind Celtic.
