He trained at the Anna Scher Theatre in Pentonville, north London along with fellow Eastenders stars Natalie Cassidy and Brooke Kinsella.

Swash was cast as wheeler-dealer Mickey Miller and played the part from 2003 to 2008. He later reprised the role 2011.
