How Nottingham Forest played key role in Notts County transfer

Nottingham Forest played a key role in former loanee John Bostock's transfer to rivals Notts County.

Bostock, who spent the 2019-20 season on loan at the City Ground, has signed an initial 18-month contract with Notts after leaving Doncaster in the summer. Prior to his move, the midfielder spent three months training at Forest and kept himself ticking over with an appearance for the under-21s.

But when Notts came calling, the 30-year-old told how he was 'blown away' after taking part in training during a two-week break from National League action. Bostock said: "I was training at Forest for three-and-a-half months, which was brilliant for me.

"But when Notts said come and train, I said 'ok, let's go and have a look.' I came in and I was honestly blown away by professionalism, the manager, the footballing knowledge and just the direction of the club.

"You can tell there's a unique approach here which is really refreshing, it's almost like the new age of football. It was something that I had to consider very quickly."

Bostock has played for 14 different clubs including Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Forest and Brentford. While on loan at the City Ground from Toulouse, the midfielder made just seven appearances.
