Newcastle United travel to Liverpool this evening without Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes, while Allan Saint-Maximin is an injury doubt. Record signing Alexander Isak could make his debut this evening should his work permit be ratified on time.
Here's how our writers believe Newcastle United should line up vs Liverpool at Anfield this evening.
Lee Ryder
The big question is whether Isak is cleared, if he is it's a no brainer to start him providing Eddie is satisfied he is fully fit and up to speed. For me if Saint-Maximin is missing I'd give Jacob Murphy his chance to shine.
Murphy worked extremely hard in the cameo he had at Wolves and helped create the equaliser. Elliot Anderson would also be a starter for me based on the fact the kid has no fear. Let him have a go at Anfield.
Lee's XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Joelinton, Anderson, Willock; Murphy, Almiron; Isak/Wood
Ciaran Kelly
All eyes will be on the team sheet to see if Alexander Isak received his work permit in time. However, given how little time Isak has had to train with his new team-mates since completing his record-breaking move on Friday, I would resist throwing him in from the start even if he does get the green light to play.
Similarly, if Allan Saint-Maximin, somehow, manages to shake off the hamstring issue he picked up at Wolves, I would not risk the Frenchman in the hope he would be fit to feature against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Ryan Fraser impressed during his cameo at Molineux so I would give the winger his first start of the season out on the left in Saint-Maximin's place. Chris Wood was crying out for some decent deliveries on Sunday and Fraser, on his day, can provide the sort of service the striker needs.
Ciaran's XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Willock, Joelinton; Almiron, Wood, Fraser
Chris Knight
Injuries are already limiting Howe's options, and I would go for two changes from the side who battled for a point at Molineux. Targett should come in at left-back ahead of Burn, while Fraser should take the place of Saint-Maximin due to his hamstring concern.
In an ideal world, I would rotate the midfield three with Newcastle back in action on Saturday at home to Crystal Palace. Elliot Anderson impressed again in his cameo on Sunday and is pushing for a start sooner rather than later.
However, the talented teenager should be utilised as a potential game-changer from the bench at Anfield, before coming into contention to start against the Eagles. The absence of Guimaraes and Shelvey means I would name the same midfield three once more, with Almiron and Fraser providing the required work-rate out wide.
Isak remains a doubt as he awaits clearance to make his black-and-white debut. Having trained now for several days, I would hand the Sweden international a start if he is available for selection. If not, Chris Wood should continue up front.
Chris' XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Targett; S Longstaff, Joelinton, Willock; Almiron, Isak, Fraser
