How much Championship play-off final victory is really worth as Nottingham Forest face Huddersfield

The Championship play-off final is often described as the richest game in football.

This season it will see Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town go head-to-head today (May 29) for a place in the Premier League.

Steve Cooper's Reds will be determined to put the club back in the top flight of English football - and victory at Wembley would also have huge financial rewards for the City Ground club.

Ahead of the 2020 Championship play-off final, between Fulham and Brentford, sports financial analysts Deloitte said promotion would mean an increase in revenue of at least £135m over the next three seasons for the winning club.

And Deloitte also said that figure could rise steeply to a whopping £265m over a five-year period, if the club then avoids relegation in their first season in the Premier League.
