The Chicago Bears had a busy first week of free agency, where they welcomed nine new faces to the roster.
General manager Ryan Poles overhauled the linebacker (with Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards) and running back (D’Onta Foreman and Travis Homer) positions, as well as added quality starters in guard Nate Davis and defensive linemen DeMarcus Walker and Andrew Billings, among other additions.
Even after all of that, Chicago still has the most salary cap space in the NFL after the first wave of free agency.
According to Over The Cap, the Bears have $41.4 million in cap space, where the Atlanta Falcons ($26 million) and Green Bay Packers ($24.16 million) trail them. Chicago’s total doesn’t include Andrew Billings or D’Onta Foreman’s contracts — as the full details aren’t out yet — but the Bears are still in a favorable position.

Heading into the second week of free agency, Poles still has needs on the defensive and offensive lines — at three-technique and right tackle. While those positions figure to be focal points in the NFL draft, there are some quality players still left on the board.
