How much Rangers could earn by beating Athletic Bilbao in Europa League quarter-final

Rangers travel to Spain intent on making the semi-final stage of the Europa League by beating Athletic Bilbao.

The tie is level at 0-0 after the first leg at Ibrox last Thursday.

However, on top of progression in the competition, Europa League prize money is also up for grabs when Rangers compete in the Basque region later this week.

Rangers have already earned almost £13m from their performance and participation payments from UEFA in the Europa League this season.

However, they could surpass the £15m mark if they triumph over Bilbao on Thursday night with €4.2m per club paid to sides making it into the semi-final.

A further €7m is paid to sides reaching the final of the competition which will be played at the home of Athletic Bilbao, the San Mames stadium.

The winning club will receive €6m as a bonus along with Champions League qualification next season.
