How Much Nicotine Is in a Geek Bar Pulse?

Modern disposable vapes are often quite high in nicotine, and the world-famous Geek Bar Pulse is no exception. Containing 16 ml of vape juice with a nicotine strength of 50 mg/ml, the Geek Bar Pulse has 800 mg of nicotine in all. In theory, that’s as much nicotine as many packs of cigarettes – perhaps even many cartons.

In practice, though, a Geek Bar Pulse isn’t actually likely to last the several weeks that multiple cartons of cigarettes would last. It’s important to set your expectations correctly when you use a Geek Bar, both because it’s an essential aspect of planning your vaping budget and because you wouldn’t want to overconsume nicotine and possibly end up spending even more than you would have spent on cigarettes.

So, when we say that a Geek Bar Pulse has 800 mg of nicotine, what does that actually mean, and how many cigarettes does one Geek Bar Pulse equal? In this guide, we’ll explore the answers to those questions.

How Much Nicotine Is in a Geek Bar Pulse Compared to Cigarettes?

You now know that a Geek Bar Pulse contains 800 mg of nicotine in all, but it’s not easy to pinpoint what that actually means as a former smoker. When you smoke, you track your nicotine consumption in terms of the number of cigarettes you smoke per day and not in a certain number of milligrams. Is it possible to calculate how many cigarettes are in a Geek Bar Pulse? You can – and we’ll explain how it’s done.

According to a study published in the journal Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics in 1984, you absorb about 1.04 mg of nicotine into your bloodstream in the process of smoking a cigarette. So, that’s our target – for every 1.04 mg of nicotine that you absorb, that’s the equivalent of smoking a cigarette.

To learn more, though, we need to go a bit deeper. When you vape, how much of the nicotine reaches your bloodstream? We can find the answer in a 2022 study published in the journal Tobacco Control. According to that study, about 68 percent of the nicotine that you inhale by vaping reaches your blood.

Therefore, of the 800 mg of nicotine in a Geek Bar Pulse, roughly 544 mg will reach your bloodstream. If our target is 1.04 mg per cigarette, that’s approximately 523 cigarettes or more than two and a half cartons. Not bad, right?

How Long Does a Geek Bar Pulse Last?

As much nicotine as a Geek Bar Pulse contains, you’re probably not going to find that a device is exactly the equivalent of two and a half cartons of cigarettes. It’s completely realistic to expect a Geek Bar Pulse to last at least a week – perhaps even longer than that – but it’s important to remember that comparing vapes directly to cigarettes isn’t an exact science. You can use published studies to get in the ballpark as we’ve done above, but tobacco smoke and nicotine vapor definitely aren’t the same thing. If you need to use your vape a little more often than you would have smoked a cigarette, that’s perfectly normal and not something to worry about. Tobacco products are tuned for maximum nicotine delivery in a way that vapes aren’t.

How to Make a Geek Bar Pulse Last Longer

Maybe you’re reading this article because you’ve used a few Geek Bar Pulse devices and found that they actually didn’t seem to last very long at all. If you find that a device only lasts you a few days on average before you need to replace it, it’s possible that you’re overdoing things a bit. Follow these three tips to make a Geek Bar Pulse last as long as it can.

  • Use Pulse Mode only when you need a little extra oomph. When you use Pulse Mode, the Geek Bar Pulse consumes e-liquid twice as quickly as it does in the regular single-coil mode. In other words, your device will last about half as long as it should.
  • Try to vape with the patterns of a smoker. If you use your Geek Bar Pulse about 20 times per day and puff on it about 10-15 times per session, you’re mimicking the patterns of a pack-a-day smoker and definitely don’t have to be concerned that you’re using too much nicotine.
  • Put your Geek Bar down when your nicotine cravings are satisfied. If your vape is always in your hand, it’s very likely that you’re going to end up using it more than you really need to.

In addition to the above tips, it’s also important to ensure that you only buy authentic hardware. Fake Geek Bars are definitely out there, but you should never get a counterfeit device if you buy your vapes from a vape shop.

How to Know when a Geek Bar Pulse Is Finished

A Geek Bar Pulse is finished when it begins to taste burnt every time you puff on it. When this happens, you know that the wick is completely dry. When your device is nearly out of vape juice, you’ll know well in advance for two reasons.

  • The Geek Bar Pulse has a built-in screen with a meter showing the device’s e-liquid supply. The meter is only an approximation, but when it’s low, you definitely know that it’s nearly time for a new vape.
  • When the Geek Bar Pulse is running low on vape juice, the flavor will become much weaker. The vapor production will also decrease. When the overall experience isn’t as good as it was when the device was new, it’s nearly time for a new vape.

Can You Refill a Geek Bar Pulse?

The Geek Bar Pulse uses a clamshell design, and it’s possible to open the clamshell by squeezing the device with vise grips or needle-nose pliers. So, although you can refill your device in theory, you’ll find in practice that it’s much easier to simply buy a refillable vape if that’s the experience you’re looking for. Enjoy disposable vapes for what they are – extremely convenient but temporary vaping solutions. If you want a vape that lasts longer, any good vape shop will have dozens of refillable options that you can try.
