Arsenal's interest in signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has been the talk of the town during the opening ten days of the January transfer window.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has made it no secret of his desire to bring in reinforcements this month, with the Spaniard keen to keep his side at the top of the Premier League table. "We are really trying to improve the squad in every window," Arteta said earlier this month when asked about potential transfers.
"We’re trying to do our best because we cannot waste any windows still with the squad and the numbers that we have. We will try."

football.london reported last month that Shakhtar rejected Arsenal's opening offer of around £55 million for the aforementioned Mudryk services but that doesn't seem to have ended the Gunners' interest. Now, MediaFoot have reported that Mudryk is close to signing a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium with the option of another year and his proposed salary is said to work out at €7.5 million (£6.3 million) per season.
This would mean the 22-year-old's weekly wage would be around £127,000 per week, a sum that would make him one of the club's highest earners. It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal will be able to get a deal for the Ukrainian over the line this month, although they will likely have little issue convincing the player on any move considering his previous praise of the north London club.
Speaking to CBS Sports last year, he said: "I do dream (of the Premier League). I think every guy dreams about the Premier League. Arsenal is a very good team with a very good coach. I like the way they play.
"Yes it would be hard to say no from my side, I can't say no but the transfer is not only my decision and my word."
