Retailer Marks and Spencer has been praised over its plans to donate to the people of Ukraine.
Posting on social media, M&S said it would donate thousands of pounds and items of clothing to help the children and families or Ukraine.
On its Facebook page, M&S wrote: "We want to do everything we can to support the children and families of Ukraine.
"That's why we are building on our existing support with a £1.5m package to help families in need.
"We are donating £500,000 to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). We are donating 20,000 items of winter clothing that families need.
"We have allocated £500,000 to support UNICEF through matched colleague fundraising and double Sparks donations. And you can show your support too.
"From this weekend, we'll be activating giving at our till-points, and at M&S.com. Sparks customers can select UNICEF UK as their chosen charity, and we will make double donations every time you shop at M&S."
The post has since been liked more than 13,000 times, and has been shared over 1,500 times.
Shoppers have praised M&S' dedication to helping the people of Ukraine.
Moya Mitchell wrote: "Changed my sparks card charity to UNICEF UK. Well done marks and Spencer a well deserving charity."
Lindy Tovey said: "You have done something and I am pleased, if you can do more I would be really proud but I am happy that you are doing something."
Katrina Ferrier wrote: "Updated my nominated Sparks charity to UNICEF. Well done M&S."
The post did, however, come under fire with some shoppers, who slammed M&S for 'not doing enough.'
Rachel Weeks slammed: "But you also need to close all your Russian branches, stopping shipments does not go far enough."
M&S isn't the only supermarket chain attempting to help the situation in Ukraine.
Aldi said: "We continue to be saddened by the news coming out of Ukraine. As part of our continued support for those affected, the Aldi group have committed to a further €5 million for established aid organisations ensuring help reaches those that need it most. #STANDWITHUKRAINE."
ASDA wrote: "Like our customers and colleagues, we’re shocked and saddened by the events in Ukraine. That's why Asda and the Asda Foundation are donating a £1 million package to support those affected and removing Russian products from our stores and Asda.com."
Tesco told shoppers: "Our thoughts are with the people affected by the Ukraine crisis and with all those impacted at such a difficult time. We’re committed to supporting the relief efforts of those who need it.
"We’re donating £1m to the British Red Cross and we’re working with them to find ways for our customers and colleagues to help financially donate too, we will share more on this in the coming days."
Morrisons commented: "We’ve been shocked and saddened watching events unfold in Ukraine and want to help, so we’re donating £250,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Appeal. These funds will support those affected by the conflict, providing food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection."
Sainsbury's posted: "Like the rest of the world, we’re shocked and saddened by the unfolding events in Ukraine and like so many of our colleagues and customers, we want to offer our support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine in a meaningful way.
