Supporters traveling to the Middle East for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have been told they may have to pay up to £80 for a beer.
Although alcohol isn't illegal in the host country, the laws and rules surroundings are very different from what we have become accustomed to at normal tournaments before. Needing specific licenses and only being able to drink in designated areas will be some of the problems bidding fans will soon face.
According to a recent report by the i, some venues are set to charge over £200 for entry to watch the games on their premises, with the cost of three beers factored in. One sports bar in Doha is set to charge fans 1,000 riyals (£240) to watch either the semi-final or final, which includes a three-drink voucher, making each beer £80.

With fans zones dotted around the country not permitted to sell alcohol either, many supporters may have to question their downtime in the build-up to World Cup matches. Between 4,000 and 5,000 England fans are expected to make the journey to Qatar, with many fans set for a very different World Cup experience.
The Gulf state has faced its own issues regarding the hosting of the tournament, with the Arab nation the smallest to ever host a World Cup. Former FIFA chief Sepp Blatter has also recently admitted it was the wrong decision to give the country the right to host the games.
"Football and the World Cup are too big for it," he told Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger. "It was a bad choice and I was responsible for that as president at the time. Thanks to the four votes of Platini and his [Uefa] team, the World Cup went to Qatar rather than the United States. It's the truth."
