The Waialae Country Club officially opened in 1927 and is located in the neighborhood of Kahala in Honolulu. It’s a private course, which means golfers must be members to play on the greens.
Like most private golf courses, the membership fee is steep, but the Waialae Country Club is famous worldwide and being a member offers excellent amenities and plenty of prestige.
Waialae Country Club Membership
The Waialae Country Club is a well-known golf course that is featured in multiple video games, including titles for the Super Nintendo System and the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series.
At the beginning of each golf season, the PGA Tour travels to Waialae Country Club in Hawaii to play the Sony Open, a tournament hosted by the legendary Tiger Woods.
The Sony Open has been hosted at the Waialae Country Club since 1965. While it isn’t a signature event, it often marks the first full field of the year.
Seth Raynor initially designed the course but has seen upgrades by Robert Trent Jones, Desmond Muirhead, Rick Smith, and Tom Doak.
While the official membership price hasn’t been released, it’s rumored the initiation fee is between an estimated $52,000 to $67,300. The monthly dues are suspected to be around $500 per month.

The Waialae Country Club is decked out in amenities. Not only are members treated to the state-of-the-art golf course, but there is also a 250-yard driving range, chipping, putting greens, and full professional instructor options.

Included with the membership, players can access the Hale Ohana Ola “House of Family and Fitness,” which features modern and upscale fitness rooms, including exercise machines, lockers, saunas, and shower facilities.
The Club also features tennis courts and a swimming pool.
