How much does a pint cost in Glasgow as city named amongst 'most expensive' places for night out

Going for a night out can turn pretty expensive pretty fast, with many of dreading looking at our bank account the next morning in fear of realising just how much it cost us.

New data has revealed that one Scottish city, Dundee, is the cheapest for a night out. However unsurprisingly for Glasgow locals, the city is said to be one of the most expensive.

Named as the ninth most expensive in the UK, an average pint is said to cost £3.93 meanwhile at almost double, the average price for a cocktail comes in at £7.

This compares to Edinburgh and Aberdeen where the cost of an average pint comes in at £5.10 and £3.86, respectively. Meanwhile the average cost of a cocktail in each city costs £9 and £8 - both more expensive than Glasgow.

The price difference between Glasgow and Dundee, said to be the most 'affordable' city in the UK for a night out, is 85p for an average pint with Dundee costing £3.08. Meanwhile a cocktail will set you back £7 - the same price as Glasgow.

These prices however have risen with the average pint price in Glasgow said to have been £3.78 last year, as reported by Glasgow Live back in April 2022. A difference of 15p just under one year later.

It comes as research by AskGamblers.com analysed data on the most populated areas in the UK on Expatistan to find where people can enjoy a night out at the lowest cost. The analysis was based on prices for a pint of beer, a cocktail, a fast-food meal and a taxi fare.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson from AskGamblers.com said: “The cost-of-living crisis has restricted a lot of activity for many over the past year, however, many will be looking for a fun night without having to break the bank. This study offers a fascinating insight into the locations that offer the best deals.

"With the cost of a night out in London being almost double that of a night out in Dundee, party-goers in the capital will need plenty of money-saving savvy to have a good night that doesn’t drain their savings.”
