Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski continues to be linked with a summer move to Arsenal with the Gunners keen to add a new striker to the ranks.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Barcelona in January, leaving Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette as the two options available to Mikel Arteta until the end of the season.
Both strikers are out of contract in the summer, meaning there is a very real possibility Arsenal head into the summer transfer window without a recognisable senior striker on their books.
Gabriel Martinelli is an option but has so far played his best football out wide and with the club hoping to be in the UEFA Champions League next season, they will want someone with a bit more experience to lead the line.
Regardless of the European competition the club find themselves in in 2023, there are no circumstances where the team can start the new campaign with just one striker.
Lewandowski at 33, he turns 34 in August, is still one of the most fearsome strikers in world football and would instantly upgrade the striker position heading into the new season.
Here, football.london takes a look at the best possible XI Arteta could play next season.
Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale
Last season's summer signing, Ramsdale has clearly established himself as the clear number one at the club.
But it's not his shot-stopping abilities which Lewandowski will benefit from.
With the ball at his fit, Ramsdale has shown he has excellent distribution, being able to not only break lines with his passing but can also launch devastating counter attacks.
Having played with Manuel Neuer for so long, the Polish international will enjoy having another goalkeeper who can become an extra player when on the ball and set up attacks from the back.
Defenders: Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel, Ben White, Kieran Tierney
A back four made up for Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel and Tierney has already shown this season that they won't concede many goals and this group of players offers the best defensive platform for the rest of the team to shine.
Tomiyasu has taken to Premier League football like a player who has been here for years and can only improve with more experience.
With the Japanese international and Tierney feeding balls from out wide, Lewandowski can look forward to a system that looks to feed him plenty of crosses for him to get on the end of.
Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe
While this midfield trio lacks the defensive solidity of perhaps one which pairs Partey and Granit Xhaka, the playmaking ability of Odegaard and Smith Rowe will be perfect for a player in the mould of Lewandowski.
Both have offered chances on a plate to Arsenal's previous attacking options and you can only imagine would a clinical finisher like Lewandowski could could.
Odegaard and Smith Rowe will rack up the assists providing chances to the Polish international and both will also enjoy a fair few goals as well, as Lewandowski is not adverse to turning provider as well.
Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Robert Lewandowski, Gabriel Martinelli
Surrounding Lewandowski with unselfish forwards who can also chip in with goals is paramount.
While the focus should be getting the best out of the summer signing, it's important to not burden him too much.
In Saka and Martinelli, you have to wide forwards who can operate on both flanks and link nicely with the central striker in Lewandowski.
But the ability to also score themselves or cut in, allowing the veteran striker to pull out wide and isolate full backs is one the team must take full advantage of.
Being fluid up front and not static is key to getting not only the best out of Lewandowski but the rest of the attacking players as well.
