How Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech reacted to Kai Havertz' goal during Chelsea Newcastle

Chelsea directors Marina Granovskaia's and Petr Cech's emotions certainly changed throughout the afternoon as Chelsea eventually overcame Newcastle by a one goal margin in the Premier League.

Kai Havertz, who could have arguably seen red for an elbow on Dan Burn in the first half, was on hand to execute a late move well which saw the Blues sneak to victory in SW6 right at the death.

"The Kai Havertz goal was exceptional. We were, of course, a bit lucky today. We maybe had a hard time on the pitch because Newcastle was physical, well deserved, gave us difficulty to create chances and accelerate the game in the last 30 metres," Tuchel reflected in his post-match press conference.

"It was so important not to concede. To have the quality with one chance, one quality pass and one quality finish to win it. Thank goodness we did it. We never got frustrated about it. They defended very, very well. You could see in the last four minutes what a goal does to the team.

"We were so good in the last four minutes. It was so easy to find the gaps, the switch of play, everything was so easy and so much more fluid. This is what happens. I think the distraction level was not the biggest part today."

It wasn't all rosy for the club on Sunday with Petr Cech having to send an emotional message to supporters who are still wondering what the long-term future of the club is amid Roman Abramovich's sanctions being announced earlier in the week.

“It has been a difficult situation at the football club because there has been a lot of questions but not a lot of answers,” he told Sky Sports.

“We are determined to focus on things that we can control and working with people, supporting people and focusing on each other, making sure we can play the games.

“We have to admit that we go day by day, as we do not have this situation in our hands.

“The conversations are going on and we hope that we can try to operate in a way that means we can finish the season.”

He added regarding the ownership race: “Chelsea Football Club has 117 years of history and obviously have had a lot of success.

“That comes down to the hard work and dedication of the people who have worked for the club since it was founded and have been on this journey of success.

“Of course, I hear around that people are trying to erase the last 19 years of the football community but this is not about money, this is about dedication and hard work of the players and the people behind the scenes to make the club successful.

“We have done it within all of the rules and all of the financial fair play and everything that was in our power, and this should not be forgotten.”

Those emotional scenes from the legendary goalkeeper took up a lot of the pre-match talk on social media but the game finally stole the limelight late on.

During proceedings that took a while for Chelsea to ignite into their full form, the Sky cameras cut to a rather grumpy Cech and Granovskaia who were watching on throughout

The difference a goal can make though is massive and this was shown by how the pair reacted at full-time after the winner went in just before injury time.

Granovskaia was spotted with a big smile on her face despite reports on her uncertain future emerged earlier in the week after what happened to good friend Roman Abramovich whilst Cech applauded Havertz for making the big difference at the end.

Smiles and clapping will hopefully be the order of next week as the club as whole looks to put behind a turbulent week for everyone involved.
