The Georgia Bulldogs are no stranger to success at the college football level.
As of 2023, the Bulldogs have appeared in 60 bowl games, the second-most in the FBS behind — guess who? — Alabama. Georgia’s seen a lot of talent pass through its halls in recent years as well, from Hines Ward to Stetson Bennett.
With that much high-profile talent and many lauded accomplishments, the Bulldogs surely have to have a fair number of national championships in their pockets as well, right? Surprisingly, Georgia has just two national championships to its name since the team’s first season in 1892.
Here are the two seasons in which the Bulldogs were the top dog in college football as national championship winners:
- 1980: Georgia over Notre Dame, 17–10
- 2021: Georgia over Alabama, 33-18
No doubt Georgia fans will be looking forward to many more national championships in the years to come!
