How Manchester United transfer activity could 'impact' Tottenham manager appointment and more rumours

Manchester United’s summer pursuit of Harry Kane could reportedly have a bearing on who Tottenham manage to appoint as their next boss.

Kane is Erik ten Hag’s top target in his search for a new centre-forward, although will not entertain drawn-out talks with Daniel Levy, who is set to drive a hard bargain for his club’s talisman.

Spurs are currently under the second tenure of caretaker boss Ryan Mason following the sacking of former interim manager Cristian Stellini. With only four games until the end of the campaign, the London club are expected to wait until the summer to appoint a new permanent manager.

With Mauricio Pochettino seemingly on his way to Chelsea, former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with a move to Tottenham on several occasions. The Daily Mirror reports that the German is interested in the job but wants assurances over Kane.

The England captain has just over 12 months left on his deal and turns 30 this summer having yet to win a trophy in his career despite being all-time scorer for club and country.

Should United turn Kane’s head, Naglesmann could think twice about a switch to Spurs with the 35-year-old keen to overhaul the squad while keeping hold of key players.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to have begun talks with Brighton star Alxis Mac allister, whom United are thought to be interested in. The World Cup winner netted a 99th-minute penalty to hand the Seagulls a 1-0 win over the Reds on Thursday.

He is apparently being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs with a summer exit considered likely. Football Insider claims Liverpool are targeting the Argentine as Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his midfield.

James Milner and Naby Keita are set to leave Anfield and so the Merseyside club are hoping to quickly secure a deal. Reports earlier this year suggested that United officials had discussed Mac Allister as a potential summer option with Ten Hag also after a new midfielder this summer.
