How Man United’s Frenkie de Jong move deals blow to Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea in Raphinha race

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are all rumoured to be interested in a move for Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer. The Brazilian is believed to be in-demand, following a season where he scored 11 and assisted three in 35 Premier League appearances.

All three London clubs will be hoping they can add the 25-year-old as part of a refresh in the transfer window. The Gunners have been the most recent side linked, with Mikel Arteta looking to take his side one step further and return to the Champions League.

They were pipped to that in the previous campaign by Tottenham, with Antonio Conte eyeing a move for quality in depth to keep his squad competing at the top. Meanwhile, the Blues are in need of a rebuild after a number of key players left and the new ownership regime started under Todd Boehly.

Leeds are reportedly asking for upwards of £50million to let Raphinha leave this summer, but the London sides aren’t the only interested parties. La Liga giants Barcelona are also said to be in the race, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms have been agreed with his agent, but no deal has been sorted between the two clubs.

That may be partially down to the Blaugrana's financial difficulties. Barcelona have been widely known to struggle when it comes to their recent finances, with players unable to be registered or moved on for lower fees.

And that appears to be the case for Raphinha as journalist Charles Watts said on his YouTube channel that the Brazilian could make the move to the Nou Camp, but it would depend on them finding the funding. That is where Manchester United could come in.

The Red Devils are reportedly keen on Frenkie de Jong, with the midfielder previously playing under new boss Erik ten Hag during his time at Ajax. While nothing is agreed, reports state that a £60million bid could be enough to secure his services.

That would be enough to land Raphinha for the Catalonian side, with the Reds dealing a huge double blow by strengthening their own squad and denying their rivals from landing a player they are interested in.
