Pep Guardiola already has the most enviable squad in the Premier League and two big-name transfers during the upcoming summer window could help him achieve his dream Manchester City line-up. But will that be enough for City to end their European hoodoo next season?
After missing out on Harry Kane from Tottenham last summer, attentions at the Etihad Stadium and beyond have turned to Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland. While emerging as one of the hottest properties across Europe, the Norway striker has totted up a staggering 85 goals in 87 games for the Bundesliga side.
Crucially, as elite clubs prepare to form an orderly queue for his signature, suitors will only have to pay £64million for his services when a release clause in his Dortmund contract activates. Effectively that means one manager will win the goalscoring lottery this summer.

As things stand, Guardiola appears to be favourite to land that golden ticket. But the Spaniard will not stop there in his bid for perfection as City are credited with a sensational push to sign Paul Pogba from city neighbours Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of this campaign.
City are well-stocked in the engine room; namely through Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and others. However, as he proved by signing £100million man Jack Grealish last summer, Guardiola is not afraid to push the boat out and strengthen an area it would, ordinarily, be tough to strengthen.
You would expect City fans to 'settle' for Haaland if Guardiola wins that chase. However, on the international stage with France, that man Pogba has also shown he can mix it with the very best in the right environment.
His arrival might cause further selection headaches and Guardiola will, also, have to shuffle his pack to keep all the star names happy. But that will be a price worth paying for further silverware - especially in Europe - as Manchester Evening News takes a closer look at one dream line-up for City next term.
Spare a thought for John Stones, Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Grealish and several others.
