It looks as if the four hour long queues some passengers have been experiencing over recent weeks at Dublin Airport may be coming to an end.
Passengers on Friday morning were hailing staff at the airport as security queues reached under 30 minutes at peak times.
Dublin Airport operator daa said it has been a very busy start to the Easter weekend but a "good start” nonetheless given recent issues due to staff shortages.
Speaking to RTE News, daa spokesperson Graeme McQueen said: "The queues have been flowing really well with a wait time of under 30 minutes at Terminal 1 this morning.”
There will be around 50,000 passengers departing from Dublin Airport on Friday alone, with hundreds of thousands more expected to follow throughout the bank holiday weekend.
In a bid to improve services at the airport, officials opted to open terminal one security 24 hours a day, which seems to be taking the edge off queue times finally.
Passengers are still being advised to arrive at the airport up to 3.5 hours before their flight is due to depart - but no more than that as it causes a backlog for earlier travellers.
Dublin Airport has finally returned to “normal levels of staffing" according to the daa and is operating with the maximum number of security workers over the Easter weekend.
More than 600 daa staff have also been redeployed to take up roles at the airport, doing security checks, screening passengers as well as managing queues.
The daa confirmed that there have been no missed flights so far due to delays at the airport, but said plenty of people miss their flights every day for a vast array of reasons.
While there have been improvements already, the weekend ahead is expected to be incredibly busy at Dublin Airport and so passengers are still advised to prepare ahead of time and arrive within the recommended time allowance.
