How long is the Long Walk at Windsor?

The Queen’s coffin is making its final journey to St George’s Chapel in Windsor following the state funeral at Westminster Abbey. A service of committal of service will take place at 4pm on Monday afternoon.

Crowds of people have lined the Long Walk in Windsor as the funeral procession makes its way to the chapel. The hearse arrived in Windsor shortly after 3pm and the funeral procession began on foot at 3.10pm.

The route is lined by members of the armed forces, while members of the public have gathered to try and catch a glimpse of the Queen’s coffin for the last time. The royal family will join the procession in the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle.

The Long Walk measures just under three miles in length and it usually takes around 45 minutes to walk the route. The coffin is set to arrive at the chapel in time for the service at 4pm.

There will be a congregation of 800 people including the King, the royal family, realm prime ministers, governors-general and mourners from the Queen’s household past and present at the service.
