It’s the time of the year that Love Island fans have been waiting for as the new series kicked off on Monday night.
Due to last year’s show being delayed a few months by the Covid pandemic, it hasn’t quite been a full year since reigning champions Millie and Liam were crowned but fans of all things fire pit have been chomping at the bit to get a new slice of villa action.
Love Island will once again take up residence in Majorca, but the big difference this year is that the show has a brand new villa for the singles to search for romance in.

Laura Whitmore is once again on hosting duties while the Love Island contestants this year include Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma and confirmed first Love Island bombshell Davide, who made his grand entrance after the singles had coupled up for the first time.
How long is Love Island on for?
Ahead of the new series kicking off on ITV2 on June 6, rumours were rife that bosses had already decided to make it a longer one, with the show running for 10 weeks instead of the usual eight.
However, host Laura was either keeping hold of a secret or shutting down that speculation as, in a preview advert for the Love Island 2022 launch, which aired during the Britain’s Got Talent final, she said it would be on for just eight weeks.
Looking down the camera lens, the Irish presenter said: “This summer love is ours; every romance, every bromance, every recoupling round the firepit. For eight weeks we're going to own love and it all kicks off tomorrow in a brand new villa."
