How Liverpool can line up with Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount after FIVE stars leave

It's been a difficult season for Liverpool.

The Reds have failed to win a major trophy and find themselves scrambling around for a Champions League spot. They are fifth in the Premier League table, four points behind Eddie Howe's Newcastle in third and Erik ten Hag's Manchester United in fourth.

Liverpool's form has left Jurgen Klopp looking for new players in the transfer market, especially midfielders. As revealed by Mirror Football, Liverpool are ready to offer £70million for Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister, 24, after his World Cup glory with Argentina.

Klopp also wants to tempt Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to Merseyside, with a £50million bid expected. That might just be enough to land the England international, also 24, to Merseyside, with his existing deal set to expire in June 2024.

Signing Mac Allister and Mount would make a huge difference to Liverpool's midfield, with five players expected to leave Anfield in the summer. Arthur Melo will be one of those stars after failing to make a single Premier League appearance so far this season.

Arthur, 26, was signed on a season long-loan from Juventus in September but has played just 13 minutes of football for the Reds. Naby Keita has also struggled for minutes this season, starting just three Premier League games, and is set to be axed this summer.

Who do you think Liverpool should sign this summer? Let us know in the comments below!

Keita, 28, is out of contract in June... and so is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 29-year-old has struggled to nail down a spot in Klopp's starting XI since suffering a serious knee injury five years ago and is expected to seek more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Roberto Firmino has already confirmed he will leave Liverpool in the summer, with Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia thought to be interested in the 31-year-old. Finally, James Milner's time at Anfield could be up, with Brighton chasing the 37-year-old.

Alisson will remain Liverpool's No.1 goalkeeper beyond the summer, while a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson remains Klopp's strongest. That defence turns into a back three when Liverpool are on the ball, with Alexander-Arnold pushing into midfield to offer more creativity in attack.

Alexander-Arnold's new role has placed added importance on Fabinho, who has struggled at times this season. The Brazilian is enjoying playing alongside Alexander-Arnold in possession and, at 29, still has plenty to offer as Liverpool's primary holding midfielder.

Mac Allister could play in the heart of midfield, with Mount in a slightly more advanced position. Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott could come into midfield when required. Those four are not expected to leave the club this summer.

Klopp already has plenty of options in attack. A front three of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz is Liverpool's strongest, although Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo may have something to say about that. The latter can also play in attacking midfield.
