How Liverpool and Wolves can help West Ham secure Premier League survival after Brentford loss

West Ham United cannot secure their place in next season’s Premier League until they face Leeds United at the earliest after losing to Brentford on Sunday.

The Hammers would have secured their safety on Sunday at the Gtech Community Stadium had they beaten the Bees, or, they could have still done it this weekend with a draw, had other results gone their way.

However, a defeat does mean that West Ham will have to wait until next weekend’s set of Premier League matches.

Leicester City, currently sat 19th after 35 games, host European hopefuls Liverpool on Monday night, and the result could boost West Ham’s chances of officially sealing their safety

Sitting seven points behind West Ham with three games to go, should Leicester lose to Liverpool, they will not be able to catch the Hammers, becoming the second team in that position after already-relegated Southampton.

If the result goes West Ham’s way and Liverpool win, it will mean that the Hammers’ safety could become officially safe on Saturday afternoon if Everton fail to win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Should Leicester lose but Everton win, West Ham need just a point next Sunday at home to Leeds United to clinch their survival.

Premier League’s bottom six:

15th West Ham United P36 37pts
16th Nottingham Forest P36 34pts
17th Everton P36 32pts
18th Leeds United P36 31pts
19th Leicester City P35 30pts
20th Southampton P36 24pts
