How Kristaps Porzingis makes life easier for the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics, after a disappointing finish in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, made major changes to their roster, bringing in Kristaps Porzingis to join Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics, despite being a consistently strong team with the league’s longest active playoff streak (nine years), haven’t won a championship since 2008. Team president Brad Stevens opted for a shake-up, trading Marcus Smart for Porzingis, aiming for a new formula to propel them to success.

Porzingis excels in spot-up situations, with the Celtics having one of the highest rates of spot-up possessions in the league. His ability to score off the catch, especially from beyond the 3-point line, provides the team with a different offensive threat. He also brings a significant post-up presence to the Celtics, something they lacked last season. His shot-blocking prowess and the ability to guard both ball-handlers and roll men make him a valuable asset on the defensive end.

The host of the Athletic “Game Theory” podcast Sam Vecenie recently put together a short on what Porzingis brings to Boston.

Check it out in the clip embedded above.
