The Boston Celtics elected to attend to their frontcourt depth ahead of the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline, dealing reserve forward Lamar Stevens and a pair of second round draft picks to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the contract of backup Memphis big man Xavier Tillman, Sr.
Tillman will help fortify the rotation for the rest of the 2023-24 regular season, likely playing some most nights, but also picking up extended stints on nights where one of either star Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis or veteran Celtics forward Al Horford takes the night off. At least to start, the former Grizzlies center will likely be behind reserve big man Luke Kornet in the team’s rotation, but offers a different look that could get him similar minutes if not more.
What else do we need to know about how Tillman fits into Boston’s roster?
