Great Britain continues to lap up the spring sunshine this weekend, with forecasters anticipating that some locations could see their hottest day of the year thus far later in the week. While Porthmadog's 25.1C reading last Tuesday allowed Welsh residents to lap up almost tropical heats - experts anticipate more stunning weather to flow in imminently.
Unfortunately though, it looks as though the North East will miss out on the hottest heats, with only the areas of London, the East and West Midlands, East of England, South East and South West receiving rare UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) warnings from Monday to Friday for hot weather.
On their advice, the Government agency said: "The alert is currently in place from 9am on Friday 9 June to 9am on Monday 12 June, and if current forecasted temperatures are reached it is likely that there could be some impacts across the health and social care sector."
Dr Agostinho Sousa, Head of Extreme Events and Health Protection at UKHSA, added: "In the coming days we are likely to experience our first sustained period of hot weather of the year so far, so it’s important that everyone ensures they keep hydrated and cool while enjoying the sun. Forecasted temperatures this week will primarily impact those over the age of 65 or those with pre-existing health conditions such as respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
"If you have friends, family or neighbours who you know are more vulnerable to the effects of hot weather, it is important you check in on them and ensure they are aware of the forecasts and are following the necessary advice."
But as the North East isn't predicted to be excruciatingly scorched like other areas, just how hot will it get over the weekend? Here Chronicle Live explains.
Friday, June 9:
Tomorrow, the Met Office predicts a cloudy morning, before grey skies retreat towards the coast by early afternoon - leaving long sunny periods inland. The weather experts predict highs of 14C and lows of 10C.
Saturday, June 10:
The Met Office predicts a pretty similar day come Saturday, with low cloud on the coast stripping back once more by midday. Highs of 17C and lows of 12C.
Sunday, June 11:
While slightly hotter, with highs of 18C and lows of 13C, the Met Office predicts a far cloudier day. Starting shiny and bright at the crack of dawn, clouds will start creeping in by mid morning, with sunny intervals coming and going in the afternoon and evening.
