The Boston Celtics landed on their feet after being sideswiped by the scandal that led to them suspending and then parting ways with the head coach that guided them to the 2022 NBA Finals. They replaced the disgraced Ime Udoka with then-assistant coach Joe Mazzulla first as an interim head coach and then the full gig upon Udoka’s ouster.
Now, the Houston Rockets have hired the former Celtics coach despite his reported improper relationship with a female staffer, rolling the dice that his on-court upside will outweigh whatever baggage the former Boston coach carries in the wake of the scandal that upended his Celtics tenure.
