Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy could hand Antonio Conte a summer transfer boost in the form of Paulo Dybala to appease the manager amid exit talk that has surfaced after Tottenham's shock Burnley loss.
The Lilywhites went from winning away at Manchester City to dramatically falling from grace a few days later with a shock 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor.
Two performances that completely contrasted each other and really summed up the north London club's top four chase to date- good patches but never sparking into life.
No wonder the manager is now contemplating his future as his high standards are currently not being reflected in Spurs' fortunes on the pitch despite all the work going on behind the scenes and on the training ground to change all of this.
"Believe me, we are working a lot. We are working a lot, we are working hard every day. I think that we are doing everything to change the situation but maybe it's not enough.," he admitted with a defeatist undertone in his post-match Burnley press conference on Wednesday night.
"It's not enough. I repeat, for me it's very frustrating. Four defeats in the last five games. This is the first time in my life this type of situation has happened.
"Maybe I'm not so good for.... Maybe I'm not so good. Yes, maybe I'm not so good.
"I think Tottenham called me to improve the situation but I'm too honest. I'm too honest to close my eyes, you understand, and to continue to say 'ok I want to finish the season in this way and ok my salary is good'.
"But I'm not this type of person. I have ambition, I'm a person who has ambition, I hate to lose and we lost, I repeat, four games in the last five games. And for me, I repeat, this is unacceptable.
"I won't accept this. I want to try to improve the situation and also to make assessment with the club because if we continue in this way, maybe we have to pay great attention because this league we can finish 10th, 12th, 13th the same way that when I arrive here the same position."
Can this situation be turned around? Paratici and Levy will certainly be trying to help Conte arrest the slump.
And one way they can do this ahead of crunch talks with a dejected Conte is to hand him major funds and put the plans in place for a big summer transfer window after an indifferent mid-season period in the January market.
Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have had decent starts to the Tottenham careers but those two signings don't seem to be enough in Conte's eyes to achieve his goals of winning silverware in London once more.
Step forward Dybala - a player in a precarious situation at Juventus due to his contract, with both Spurs and Barcelona reportedly keeping an eye on the situation, with Paratici apparently having the 'firmest offer' on the table to date for the Argentine.
It was understood that the Dusan Vlahovic signing would be enough to convince Lionel Messi' teammate to pen a new deal at the Old Lady but this hasn't happened so far with Juventus' CEO having his recent say on the matter at hand.
"We will meet all expiring players at the end of February. We look ahead and, in addition to Dybala, we will also have to discuss the other renewals. We will do it in the right time and with an eye to the future," Maurizio Arrivabene told Sky Italia.
"Optimism? Contracts are made in two, there can be optimism on one side and pessimism on the other and vice versa. The renewals involve a negotiation and, each party that participates in them, has a goal."
Local outlet Tutto Juve via Sport Witness have clarified that Juve are trying to find an agreement with the 28-year-old for a new contract that will see him not leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
However, if this wasn't to come to fruition in the right way for the Serie A giants, Tottenham are best poised to make their move as the same outlet claims that Paratici is 'monitoring the situation closely' and could step up their pursuit in the forthcoming weeks if he's still not penned a new deal.
With Paratici already having held talks with Dybala and Tottenham taking steps, they can jump on the opportunity to sign the player that has always been thought of in high regard by a clearly disgruntled Conte who is in limbo over what to do next.
A Dybala signing could be the first step required to keep hold of the serial winner for some more time but the Tottenham hierarchy certainly will hope that things swing their way in this situation.
