How does Madden NFL 24 view Commanders QB Sam Howell?

Sam Howell is the leading contender to be the Washington Commanders starting quarterback in 2023.

Howell has appeared in one NFL game, in which he completed 11 of 19 passes for 169 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. He also rushed the ball five times for 35 yards and another touchdown.

Howell will be in competition with veteran Jacoby Brissett to be Washington’s starting quarterback this summer. After a strong spring, Howell heads into camp as “QB1” but must win the job from the capable and experienced Brissett.

While there are many metrics in which we can view Howell, a popular one is his “Madden” rating. That’s right, believe it or not, players care — and so do fans — about “Madden” ratings.

Last week, EA Sports revealed its initial ratings for “Madden NFL 24” which will be released next month. Defensive tackle Jonathan Allen and wide receiver Terry McLaurin were Washington’s highest-rated players at 92.

Daron Payne was rated far too low, and he noticed.

As for Howell, his “Madden” rating is 66. It’s tough to dispute a rating after only one game, but where we have questions is that five rookie QBs were all ranked ahead of Howell, including Will Levis and Hendon Hooker.

There’s a good chance Howell doesn’t care about his rating. Howell seems kind of unflappable, which many view as one of his strengths.

What was Brissett’s rating? He was given a 72 rating, below Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. Now that’s silly. Brissett should be rated higher than Howell and all five rookies.

Oh well, Howell has an opportunity to change that rating beginning in Week 1.
