One of the biggest things to look forward to during every offseason is the arrival of the individual player updates for the popular basketball simulation game NBA 2K at around the start of the so-called doldrums of August.
With it come debates over the fairness of each new assessment by fans and even the players the game represents. But for all of the vitriol (and, occasionally, jokes) about the ratings from the players themselves, not a lot of fans of the game (and sport) know how those ratings are created and adjusted — to say nothing of how the ire of said players is (usually) placated.
