Cristiano Ronaldo did not look best pleased as Youssef En-Nesyri put Morocco ahead against Portugal in their World Cup quarter-final clash. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was dropped for the second match in a row by manager Fernando Santos as he watched the match unfold from the substitutes' bench.
Ronaldo was left out of the Portugal starting lineup for their World Cup last 16 tie against Switzerland. His replacement, Goncalo Ramos, scored a hat-trick to justify Santos' decision with the manager opting to start the Porto star once again.
Portugal are hoping to secure their place in the semi-finals to take on either France or England, who play later this evening. Morocco have taken a shock lead against Portugal with the African nation 1-0 ahead at half-time.

Portugal had dominated the possession against Morocco found themselves behind at the break as they look to progress into the semi-finals. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa tried to claim the ball from a dangerous cross, but he got his timing wrong to allow En-Nesyri to score a "Ronaldo-esque" header, according to ITV commentator Ally McCoist, and put Morocco 1-0 up.
As Morocco celebrated their surprise opener, the camera panned towards Ronaldo who looked deeply unimpressed sat on the substitutes' bench. Fernando Santos may look to bring the 37-year-old striker on sooner than planned to get his team back in the game quickly.
Ronaldo is yet to score a World Cup knockout stage goal after having his strike against Switzerland was ruled out for an offside. Morocco have proven to be a difficult team to face in the tournament but France or England could be handed a huge boost if Portugal exit the tournament.
