How Chelsea fans will pay tribute to Jamal Edwards during Champions League tie vs Lille

Chelsea supporters will carry out a minute's applause during their Champions League clash against Lille in memory of Blues fan and influencer Jamal Edwards, who died on Sunday aged 31.

Edwards, a boyhood Chelsea fan, was the founder of SBTV, an online urban YouTube music platform that helped launch the careers of many artists such as Dave, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Skepta.

He is the son of Loose Women presenter Brenda Edwards, who said she was "completely devastated".

Following the tragic news, Chelsea paid tribute to the rap and grime icon on their social media channels.

The club wrote in a statement: "We're deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jamal Edwards. An inspiration to many, we're honoured that he was part of our Chelsea family.

"Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him."

Many of the Chelsea players that will be taking to the Stamford Bridge pitch on Tuesday night have already paid their respects alongside the vast majority of the fanbase on social media.

But, fans want to ensure that Edwards himself is a big part of proceedings against Lille and as a result, well known fan group We Are The Shed have announced something that will put a smile on his family's face during these tough times for all who loved the influencer.

They tweeted: "There will be a round of applause on the 31st minute tonight for Jamal Edwards. We encourage everyone at the Bridge this evening to support [followed by three clapping emojis.]"
