How Chelsea could line up if Thomas Tuchel completes realistic double move amid ownership change

Chelsea are set for one of the most significant summer transfer window’s in their history, they’re set to lose Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers in June. The Club also face an uncertain future under new ownership.

Until the west London outfit are in the hands of a new owner they remain unable to sell/sign players, or offer new contracts to the stars currently on their books. Manager Thomas Tuchel has also been linked with a move away from the club amid all the uncertainty.

However, despite the fact they are currently unable to conduct any transfer business, Blues fans can be excited about how their side will line-up next season. Chelsea have a number of young players who have impressed on loan and will believe they are ready to step up for the club.

Conor Gallagher has dazzled in a Crystal Palace shirt with eight goals and five assists for Patrick Vieira’s side. Whilst the likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi have largely flattered to deceive, the time may be right to give the lively and dynamic Gallagher an opportunity.

Armando Broja is also in the midst of a very impressive campaign for Southampton, scoring nine goals for the club. The 20-year-old has boundless potential and surrounded by better players could thrive leading the line flanked by the likes of Gallagher and Mason Mount.

The striker’s role has often proved to be a problem for the Blues with much expected from the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner who have ultimately failed to establish themselves in Tuchel’s starting XI. If Chelsea are acquired and able to buy players in the summer their plans for next season could be very different, but football.london will take a look at how the club could line-up under their current circumstances.

Potential Chelsea XI (3-4-2-1): Mendy, Chalobah, Silva, Sarr; James, Kante, Jorginho, Chilwell; Gallagher, Mount, Broja.

Tuchel favours a 3-4-2-1 system which enables Chelsea to have a solid defensive structure with the added protection afforded by N’Golo Kante. This formation would also allow Mount and Gallagher to work in tandem with both players bringing work rate, goals and assists to the front line.

The youthful attacking trio would be spearheaded by Broja, with the burly striker able to use his pace, power and direct running to devastating effect. With all three players in the Blues’ attack under the age of 24 it’s very much a triumvirate that could grow and develop into one of the most potent attacks in the league.
