How Celtic sparked Brendan Rodgers and Pep Guardiola bromance as 'incredible' bond laid bare

Honoured Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed he boasts an "incredible" relationship with Leicester City rival Brendan Rodgers.

The duo have competed against each other over the past four seasons in the English Premier League but they first faced each other when the Irishman was in charge of Celtic. And Rodgers masterminded a pair of stirring Champions League draws with the white-hot 3-3 thriller at Parkhead fondly remembered both in Glasgow and Manchester. Rodgers has endured a tough season but his Foxes appear to be digging themselves out of trouble and were unlucky not to earn a result against the reigning champions.

And Guardiola was only glad to lift the lid on the unbreakable bond between the pair. Speaking after Saturday's win at the King Power Stadium, The Spaniard said: "I’m honoured to say we have an incredible relationship. We text sometimes, we call sometimes. Through his long career, always his teams, the way he plays or decides to play, that’s Brendan. I would never judge, never will do it. It’s our duty to adapt to that."

It was Kevin De Bruyne's stunner which separated the sides on Saturday as the champions remain poised to strike as they remain two points behind early season pace-setters. Leicester are back in the relegation zone, however, there was little signs of strife after the game as their players were awarded a standing ovation from their supporters who loved the endeavour on show.
