How Celtic and Rangers Champions League ticket prices compare to other clubs in the competition

It’s been a long time since Rangers fans were able to see their team in Champions League action and demand to watch them take on the best Europe has to offer this season is sure to be big. And when it comes to the business side, it’s all about supply and demand.

The Ibrox side have unveiled their pricing for a three-match package for the club’s return to the biggest stage in European football - 12 years after they were last there. And there has been a mixed response from fans to the announcement.

Those sitting in the Broomloan and Copland Road Stands might not be complaining too much with an adult paying £150 for the matches against Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax. But if you’re at the top end of the pricing scale - with the prime seats in the Main Stand - then £180 might seem a bit steep.

Even punters in the Sandy Jardine Stand at £174 or enclosure at £165 might think it’s a bit on the high side. Especially when they look across the city and see supporters of rivals Celtic paying £129 across the board - £51 cheaper than the most expensive ticket for Rangers fans.

Here, Record Sport looks at the ticket prices for some of the other clubs competing in the Champions League to see how they compare to our Big Two - although not many sell three-match packages.

Barcelona

The Spanish giants are selling on an individual match basis and the cheapest brief for their Group C opener against Czech side Viktoria Plzen is just €15. However, that is for a seat up in the Gods in the Nou Camp. The prices then go up to as much as €99 for a view at pitch level. Also, the prices are likely to increase for the more glamorous games against Inter Milan and Bayern Munich where they are expected to start at €69.

Liverpool

Rangers’ Group A rival are also selling tickets game by game but prices will be the same for all matches. They start at £37 for the Kop and rise to the top price which is £59 for the Main Stand meaning it is comparable to the Light Blues. Tickets are actually more expensive for Premier League matches.

Manchester City

The English Premier League champions are selling tickets on an individual basis. Their first match is against Borussia Dortmund with tickets starting at £20 to £45 for a premium seat in the Etihad Stadium so the most an adult would pay for their three group games is £135.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Rangers’ Europa League conquerers booked their place in the group stage thanks to the Seville shoot-out win. And the German club have been drawn against Spurs, Sporting Lisbon and Marseille. They have two categories for the matches - A and A+. For A+ - likely to be Spurs - the tickets will range from €50 to €109 while tickets for the A band matches will range from €42 to €91

RB Leipzig

Celtic’s Group F rivals have released their prices and fans of the German clubs can get a three match package for as cheap as €50 for a three match package up to €220 for the most expensive.
