UFC 290 will get underway this weekend with Alexander Volkanovski set to defend his title against interim champion Yair Rodriguez.
Featherweight champion Volkanovski is aiming to get back on track following defeat by to Islam Makhachev earlier this year. Both fighters fought on the same night in February, with Rodriguez claiming the interim belt while Volkanovski lost out on a narrow decision to Makhachev, which was just the second loss of Volkanovski’s career.
The Australian also missed out on the chance to become only the fifth UFC champ-champ in his home country but will now return to take on interim featherweight title-holder Rodriguez. Also on the packed card is Brandon Moreno who will defend his flyweight crown against Alexandre Pantoja, Robert Whittaker will face off with Dricus du Plessis and Jalin Turner will also take on Dan Hooker in a lightweight clash.
